What's Coming in June

Watson's Lakefront Resort opens on Rose Lake in Cataldo, Idaho, in mid-June 2026, with Red's Tavern opening first on June 3. Five distinct stays, a historic tavern with garden-to-table cooking, and an unhurried piece of Idaho's Silver Valley — all on a quiet 370-acre lake minutes off I-90 between Coeur d'Alene and Wallace.

The five units sleep seventeen guests in total: Izzy's Log Cabin and Pop's Log Cabin (each a queen-bed cabin for two), a single safari tent on its own deck above the lake, a geodesic dome with panoramic glass and stargazing through the canopy, and The Tavern Loft — a three-bedroom, two-bath apartment above Red's Tavern that sleeps eight with a full kitchen and laundry. Every unit has an en suite bathroom, every unit is pet-friendly, and every unit looks out at the water.

Red's Tavern, the on-property restaurant, opens first on June 3, with the resort following mid-June. It is a historic lodge tavern dating to 1906, rebuilt around a garden-to-table kitchen anchored by Louise's on-property garden. The vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers come from the garden out back; nearly everything else is sourced locally from farms and ranches across the Coeur d'Alene region. Hand-cut steaks, seasonal specials, a lakefront deck, and live music on summer evenings.

A Note from Bill & Louise

We have been on Rose Lake a long time. We have watched the seasons turn over the dock, the morning fog lift off the water, the moose walk through the meadow at dawn. The reason we are opening Watson's is simple: we want to share this lake the way it was shared with us — quietly, with a meal that came out of the garden, and with a cabin that feels like it has been here forever because it has.

We have spent the last year preparing the units, restoring the tavern, planting the garden, and getting every detail ready. We cannot wait to welcome you.

How to Reserve Before We Open

Online booking opens the day we do. Until then, reservations are by phone. Call (208) 582-8939 with your dates and we will hold a unit for you, talk through which one fits your group, and confirm what we can do for special requests — anniversary weekends, family reunions, cycling weekends on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, or a quiet midweek escape.

If you are planning a wedding, retreat, or private event, the same number works. The lakefront lawn, the tavern, and the deck can host gatherings of various sizes, and we are already taking bookings for our first summer.

What to Read Until We Open

The rest of this blog is filling in: glamping on Rose Lake, where to stay along the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, fishing the chain lakes, weekend itineraries with Silver Mountain and Old Mission State Park, and Chef Nick's notes from the Red's Tavern kitchen. The lodging page lists every unit with photos, layouts, and what makes each one different. The FAQ answers most of what guests ask before they book. Our directions page covers the drive from Spokane, Missoula, and the Coeur d'Alene airport.

Watch this space — and we will see you on the lake in June.
