Idaho's #1 Public-Access Golf Course

Circling Raven was ranked Idaho's number-one public-access course by Golfweek for 2026, and it has held a recurring spot on Golf Magazine and Golf Digest top-100 lists for years. The course was designed by Gene Bates and opened in 2003. From the Gold tees, it plays 7,189 yards across 620 acres of wetlands, woodlands, and Palouse grasslands. The routing is open and scenic, with elevation changes that put a premium on club selection but keep the course playable for mid-handicap golfers from the appropriate tees.

Plan Your Round

The 2026 golf season runs April 3 through October 4. Two seasonal rate windows apply: shoulder season from opening day through May 17, and peak season from May 18 through October 4. Shoulder rates run roughly thirty to forty dollars below peak. Hotel guests and Advantage Members get reduced rates. The course is closed for aerification September 14 through 16, 2026; plan around those dates if you are booking a fall trip.

Tee times, current rates, and tournament schedules are at the official site, cdacasino.com.

Beyond Golf

The casino floor is roughly 100,000 square feet, with around 1,200 video gaming machines, high-stakes bingo, keno, and off-track betting. Eight dining venues are spread across the resort: Chinook Steak Pasta & Spirits is the steakhouse anchor, Sweetgrass Café is the more casual option, Red Tail Bar & Grill, High Mountain Buffet, and Twisted Earth Grill at the clubhouse round it out, alongside coffee and quick options.

Spa Ssakwa'q'n covers 15,000 square feet and is the largest spa in the region. The resort hotel offers 300 rooms and 14 specialty suites if a guest wants to stay overnight on site, but for travelers who would rather day-trip in and return to Watson's for the lake, the Casino is well within reach. Live entertainment (concerts, fight nights, comedy) runs throughout the year on a rotating calendar.

Chinook Steak Pasta & Spirits is the signature dining room: hand-cut steaks, wine list, and a quiet enough room for a long dinner. Sweetgrass Café handles breakfast and casual lunch and is the practical choice between rounds of golf or rounds at the slots. High Mountain Buffet runs classic buffet service, Red Tail Bar & Grill is the sports-bar vibe, and Twisted Earth Grill serves the clubhouse crowd at Circling Raven. Coffee shops and quick counter service round out the lineup so a long day on property never requires leaving for food.

The Tribe's Story

The Coeur d'Alene Casino has been owned and operated by the Coeur d'Alene Tribe since 1993, and is now one of North Idaho's largest employers. Circling Raven takes its name from a respected Coeur d'Alene leader. The Tribe's Cultural Tourism Program offers hands-on tours that present the Tribe's history and heritage on the Tribe's own terms. For travelers interested in the broader cultural context of the region, this is one of the more substantive ways to engage with it.

A Reset Day from Your Watson's Stay

Plan it as a single full day. From Watson's, drive about an hour west on I-90 and then south on Highway 95 through the Coeur d'Alene Reservation to Worley. Tee off mid-morning, lunch at the clubhouse, casino floor or spa for the afternoon, dinner at Chinook, then home to Watson's. For a longer trip, pair Circling Raven with Coeur d'Alene on the way down or back; the city is right on the route.

For golfers traveling without their clubs, Circling Raven has a full pro shop with rental sets and rentals for shoes if needed. Tee times can be booked online or by phone, and the course recommends arriving at least thirty minutes before your tee time to allow for warm-up on the practice facility, which has a full range, short-game area, and putting green. Rideshare options out of Worley are limited; if you are planning a casino-floor evening, designate a driver from your group or plan to stay at the resort hotel rather than driving back the hour to Watson's after dark.

Stay at Watson's, Tee Off at Circling Raven

About an hour and fifteen minutes southwest of Watson's, on the Coeur d'Alene Reservation in Worley. Cabins, dome, safari tent, and The Tavern Loft back at the lake.
